Valkyria Chronicles Paints by Higalack Valkyria Chronicles Paints by Higalack
Just painted Audrey Heitinga (left), Rosina Selden (middle), and Nina Streiss (right) from Valkyeria Chronicles.

I remember hearing that a few of the female soldiers were pretty strong in their bios:

but lacked any sorta obvious indicators of decided to do something bout it.

SO kinda threw the three of these in a picture, compositions a bit lacking. Main focus was on getting 3 painted figures, consistently detailed. Which im happy with the level of fidelity in this.

Took about a months work in SAI, probalby wouldnt have had this level of composition for a paints in the past, so im happy with the progress made

Anways Valkeryia Chronicles belongs to Sega (copyright icon thingy)

Well Audrey's specifically said that she didn't look strong which is why it was surprising...and I think Nina was more athletic than body buildy? Morning twenty mile runs or something. The faces and armor look amazing though, really nice work.

I'm kinda new here, so don't go too hard on me, but why is everyone so...musclebound?

These women clearly don't need a tank to take on the enemy! Each one is a virtual one woman army!

This is a really nice bit of painting. The figures of the women are beautifully detailed and shaded, and their gear looks real and distinct from the way you have painted the skin.
You have already heard my thoughts on composition for this one. I think the next time you spend a month painting on something, you may benefit from working out the composition first.
Overall, good work, and I look forward to seeing your next step in painting!

Thanx, Jebs

Your advice regarding paints has really helped as well as the critiques.

I'm happy to have started to hit a stride with this medium, and the rough start i began from last years, starting to pay off.

I'll be sure to see where i can go with this and start to take into account the composition before i start painting.

And thanx again for all the help!!

Amazing details. I love Audrey best. Sexy ripped body.

The only hole I see in it is that Audrey's strength is packed in a "svelte" or slender form. It's mentioned in the bio. It just sort of seems awkward to think that it is her.

As for Nina and Rosina, while I do think the are a little overdone in the upper body and arms (mostly arms) it is certainly a hell of a lot better that looking at those pics of overly fat characters :puke:
You've managed to give Rosina a Feminine face though and that's an immediate thumb up.
As for Nina it makes me start looking for either Mk. V or VI MJOLNIR armour. Honestly that's probably fairly close to a Spartan-II without the armour although she's also arguably between Brock Lesnar and The Hulk. All that said, if they had different equipment then ol' Jann Walker would be all over them.

Nice detail on the weapons and on the half of the uniform that is shown. However the dimensions of the barrel of the Edelweiss and the colouring of the vehicle are a little strange.

Okay sooo, I exaggerated on that part, heh heh
Gotta understand where I'm going with this is personal aesthetics towards the female form. And everyone has their own sense of aesthetic beauty and I usually go with the "let live" policy for the most part (even the fat lovers).

And in general i find any fan works will always take the artist own sense of aesthetics into recreating a popular or well known character.

Still thats some interesting incite into the level of muscular development and thanx for the compliments on the uniform and weapons, both were something I wanted to emphasize along with other elements of the piece.

And ye I agree the Edelweiss was added last and exhausted, meaning i wasnt working with it properly and probably didnt pay enough attention to really make it authentic.

I dont' know anything about the source material, so I'll just comment on what I see in front of me, w/o context.

Strong effort in using a paint-like style. I like how their midsections are thick and sturdy. The center figure grabs my eye, probably because of the body angle and the insanely big arm draped over the lance.

Great work. The only crit that jumps out at me is a lack of expression on the faces, esp the character on the right. But that's a nit, really. That is something to be proud of.
