A Guiding Light by Higalack A Guiding Light by Higalack
Another old idea I had recently decided to actually attempt start up again. Wanted to go back to this idea cause of the more challenging lighting and the claustrophobic and oppressive atmosphere of the original idea.

Been wanting to do mood pieces lately with my new found painting skills. I'm happy to say the mediums starting to click for me. So feeling quite proud of teh results i can pull off.

Created in SAI, done over two days on and off.

This reminds me of a picture I had to draw for art class. The assignment was a light source illuminating a background, drawn on black paper with white charcoal and/or white colored pencil. I drew a hand with an energy ball glowing in it, illuminating a cavern.

If only I had the ability back then to draw something like this! I'd have gotten 3 A's for that one assignment :XD:

well took me a while to get paints and light sourcing going. SO this wasnt my first attempt.

Just keep tryint it out id say.

Still hope ur art classes were informative, I took a few in the past and found them helpful. Would like to take more courses to be honest.

Beautifully lit painting, and I really love the atmosphere. I can almost hear the near-silent slithering of tentacles behind her. The fact she's an incredibly muscled elf lady doesn't hurt. :D

thanx, playing with dramatic light sources can be fun :D

and ye wanted a claw, but went with tentacle for the more silent stalking creature feel.

And thanx, buff elfs can be sexeh ^^
even in peril.

Very true. She is very sexy. Personally, I would've liked to have increased contrast between the lighted areas and the darkness to heighten drama. Darker shadows and brighter whites, though that may move the picture from sinister darkness to a shadowy mess. It's fun to contemplate, though the last time I tried for that kind of effect I overdid the inks and it was terrible. Hence my mindset is I write, and I'll leave art to those who do better than crooked stick figures. Thanks for sharing. :D
